# WakeAtlas > Non-commercial maritime exploration with source-aware vessel records, ocean observations and dated research layers. Updated: 2026-09-11. Descriptive directory; not a live observation feed. Records can be historical, incomplete or uncertain. AIS coverage is uneven; no reports does not establish an empty port. Forecasts are model estimates, not measurements. Observation time, forecast valid time, forecast issue time and retrieval time have different meanings. Missing values are unavailable, not zero. Local tidal datums must not be compared as common elevations. WakeAtlas is an exploration and research service, not a navigation or emergency-advice service. Original source links and per-image credits remain authoritative. Third-party data and photographs retain their individual rights. These text files do not grant blanket reuse rights or override robots.txt, authentication or provider terms. ## Executable globe access Remote MCP endpoint: https://wakeatlas.uk/api/mcp/ (Streamable HTTP, public read-only tools, no authentication). Tools: search_vessels, get_vessel, search_ports, search_wrecks, get_saved_wreck_research, get_ocean_feed, nearby_vessels, get_port, get_vessel_track, search_historic_ships, get_argo_profiles, get_research_freshness, get_operating_guide. get_port returns full stored facilities and optional nearby AIS activity; nearby_vessels supports radius, age, speed and type filters. Tracks are bounded to seven-day windows. Ocean feeds support measurement and location filtering. This reads data; it does not move a browser. Human-readable guide: https://wakeatlas.uk/ai Structured read-only API discovery: https://wakeatlas.uk/api/ai OpenAPI schema: https://wakeatlas.uk/api/ai/openapi.json The globe at https://wakeatlas.uk/ exposes WebMCP tools to compatible connected browser agents after the globe loads. No button clicks are needed. These tools affect only that browser tab, not other visitors. A plain HTTP client cannot control an already-open browser. - get_globe_state({}): returns camera latitude, longitude, altitude_m and layer names, enabled state and availability. - centre_globe({"latitude":50,"longitude":-2,"altitude_m":900000}): sets a north-up camera view. Latitude -90 to 90, longitude -180 to 180, altitude 100 to 50000000 metres. - zoom_globe({"direction":"in"}): zoom in; direction may also be "out". - reset_globe({}): returns to the global north-up view. - set_globe_layer({"name":"Shipwrecks","enabled":true}): requests a layer change. Read available names from get_globe_state, then read state again to confirm the update. Some layers are unavailable in historical mode. - locate_globe_vessel({"mmsi":"370306000"}): requests vessel selection and camera movement. This is asynchronous, not proof that the vessel loaded. Inspect the selected observation and error state afterwards. MMSI must contain nine digits. - get_vessel_observation({"mmsi":"370306000"}): reads the currently selected matching observation, with source and date; unavailable when it is not selected or historical mode is active. Link-based navigation fallback: https://wakeatlas.uk/?map_lat=50&map_lon=-2&map_altitude=900000 opens the globe at those coordinates. The browser must execute JavaScript. Merely fetching the HTML does not execute the camera action. Keep source names, observation ages, units and uncertainty in answers. Missing data is not zero; image candidates are not reviewed identities. API reads do not change account data.
